Thank you for your interest in the Volunteer Assistance Squad!
At Flipside, leads can often find themselves overwhelmed, and volunteers can find themselves spending large chunks of their event going from place to place. This is why the Volunteer Assistance Squad has come into being -- we are here to help move volunteers around, fluff them with snacks, and help with on-site volunteer signups and general information dissemination! We will have a volunteer outpost and 311 Information Station at the Civic Center. We hope to see you there!
'Volunteering for the VAS
DURING FLIPSIDE
The Volunteer Assistance Squad will consist of four volunteers per shift, working in pairs. Two volunteers will be assisting with a golf cart, and the other two will be located in the Civic Center at the 311 Info Station. The teams will switch roles halfway through their shift, so all VAS team members get to assist with all aspects of our helpful team! One volunteer on the cart will have a radio and will take calls to dispatch the Cart Team to where they can help, and our 311 Info Team will also have a radio so they can acquire all the information that Civic Center visitors may need. When volunteers are not in need of help, the Cart Team is free to give rides to participants, and will help at the on-site volunteer sign up desk at the Civic Center. The 311 Info Team will be responsible for keeping on top of general non-safety information and will be located at the Civic Center to answer queries and disperse information to volunteers and participants.
